Vedias, the professional association for paraveterinarians and veterinary assistants, now has 1,500 members and also periodically publishes the magazine 'Vedias Professional Information' among its members. Drs. J. Hooimeijer was asked to write a contribution for the theme issue Prevention.

Unfortunately, 85% of health problems, behavioral problems and welfare problems can be prevented through good information/information. Lack of knowledge remains the main reason for problems and mortality at a young age.

Preventing health, behavioral and welfare problems can be considered the most important objective of every veterinarian and every owner.
